Who Qualifies?

Albertans who are 18+ and identify in both categories below:

• • Deaf, Hard of Hearing, late deafened
  • Blind, low vision (LV), partially sighted

Referrals, inquiries and bookings can be made by contacting deafblind@connectsociety.org

Specialized communication methods that include:

• • American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Tactile ASL/Protactile
  • Voice-over
  • Two-Hand Manual alphabet

Co-Navigators (CNs) who are sighted guides that co-navigate with DeafBlind individuals during daily living activities, including:

• • Personal errands
  • Social events/meetings
  • Fitness/recreation activities
  • Medical appointments
  • Shopping
  • Correspondence
  • Work-related
  • Transit/transportation

Enrichment and learning opportunities are organized by the program for the community. Examples include:

• Braille Literacy
• Social Gatherings
• Workshops
