Connect Society would like to thank Alberta Deaf Sports Association (ADSA) for their generous donation.  ADSA donated $1500.00 specifically for gym equipment.

ADSA is a strong organization supporting Deaf athletes to participate and excel in national and international championships in 20 different sports.  ADSA membership is diverse and includes a strong contingent of younger people who are becoming energetic long term volunteers of ADSA.  ADSA has a healthy collaborative partnership with Canadian Deaf Sports Association (CDSA) and currently is developing the Long Term Athlete Development.

Long Term Athlete Development’s Strategy

“Children, youth and adults need to do the right things at the right time to develop in their sport or activity – whether they want to be hockey players, dancers, figure skaters or gymnasts.  Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) describes the things athletes need to be doing at specific ages and stages”

There are different stages of the LTAD; Connect Society would be at Stage 1 (from 0-6 years, boys and girls need to be engaged in daily active play.  Through play and movement, they develop the fundamental movement skills that will provide the foundation for learning fundament sports skills at older ages).

Thank you ADSA for your wonderful support!
